Clé Abhaile: ‘Twas on One Summer’s Evening

The Clé Club’s monthly online session, Clé Abhaile, will be feature special guest Kate Crossan.

Originally from County Antrim and now living in Derry, Kate sings traditional songs in Irish and English which reflect her Ulster roots and love for the Donegal Gaeltacht. While living in Canada she sang and recorded with the band, Kitty’s Kitchen. She then went on to record an album of traditional standards called Celtic Heart which went platinum. Her vocals featured on the soundtrack for the film, Felicia’s Journey, starring Bob Hoskins and Elaine Cassidy and the TV programme, So you think you can dance?

She also recorded traditional/classical crossover pieces with the Toronto-based Aradia Ensemble. Since returning to Ireland Kate has been active in traditional singing and performs at local and international festivals. Kate has recorded for BBC Ulster and RTÉ.

She has performed at the All Ireland Fleadh, Fleadh Live and at traditional singing festivals in England, Ireland and Europe. Her debut solo album, Away… (2015), has enjoyed critical acclaim.

As usual with the Clé Abhaile session, we encourage contributions in song or verse from ’the floor.’ We also welcome attentive listeners.
