Clé Club: Dismantling Apartheid

The Clé Club in conjunction with the Robert Tressell Festival and Left Bloc will co-host a special event featuring a mix of live music performances and panel discussions. We are honoured to have Zwellivelile ‘Mandla’ Mandela, South African political leader and grandson of Nelson Mandela, as the keynote speaker. Musicians appearing at the event will include Andy Irvine, Colm Mac Con Iomaire and Palestinian singer, Leen.

Among the speakers at the event will be the Dunnes Stores Strikers, Bernardette McAliskey, Des Geraghty, Phil Ní Sheaghdha, Aseef Shuqair, Dr. David Hickey (Gaels Against Genocide) and Dr. Nuala Quinn (Gaza Paediatric Care Initiative).

Mandla Mandela is visiting Ireland to call for action in support of Palestine and to pay tribute to the Dunnes Stores Anti-Apartheid strikers, for their role in sparking a global trade union campaign to boycott South African goods in the 1980s.

Tickets costing €11.70 each (including booking fee) are available on the Eventbrite platform.

All additional money raised by the event will go to the Gaza Paediatric Care Initiative (a team of Irish medical professionals assisting children affected by the current conflict).

In the Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin, on Wednesday October 16, the event begins at 7pm (Doors open from 6pm).
