Our first Zoom session of 2025 takes place on Monday January 6 at 8pm (Irish time). The theme for the evening is Nollaig na mBan (Women’s Christmas) or Twelfth Night (which, according to some, at least, falls on January 6). Both celebrations have traditionally involved some kind of reversal of the normal state of affairs. And since war is increasingly becoming the new normal in many parts of the world, we will aim to welcome the New Year in the spirit of joy, health, love and peace.
Our featured performer will be the incomparable Bonnie Milner, an acclaimed singer both as a soloist, as a duo with her late husband, Dan Milner, and as a member of the internationally famous a capella quartet, The Johnson Girls. Bonnie’s repertoire is drawn from the US, Ireland and Britain with a particular emphasis on sea shanties and other work songs.
We would be delighted to see you on Monday – either as performers or listeners – as we sing, play, recite and chat. We will be dedicating Monday’s event to the memory of a stalwart of both the Clé Club and the Clé Abhaile session, Pat McGrath, whose funeral took place today (Friday). We send our deepest condolences to his wife, Máirín.
